Wall Street Journal Writer Joe Millman reports that a Thai food importer in San Francisco’s Bay Area has joined forces with a leading Hispanic grocery chain to court Latino consumers, the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. market.
Former Bangkok native Pramook Jirdpongsatorn, founder of P.K. Food Corp., recognizes “that U.S. demand is rising for products popular in Latin America faster than countries there can supply them. Thailand, whose cuisine incorporates many of the ingredients found in Mexico and Central America, could step in to fill the gap,” according to the article.
