Los Angeles will play host to five top Thai Chefs of the World, who will conduct cooking classes, plan and executive elaborate Thai lunches and dinners, and talk with the news media between July 21 and July 29.

Thai Cooking - Food Industry

The Thai Chefs to the World project received rave reviews from Kittipong Leelayoowa, CEO of Thai Agri Foods Public Co., Ltd.; Srirat Ratthapana, director general of the Thai Department of Export Promotion; and Gorsak Chairatsameesak, CEO of CP ALL Public Co., Ltd. at Bangkok’s Dusit Thani Hotel.

Launched in March 2010 by Thailand’s Department of Export Promotion and several other public and private agencies, the project is designed to promote Thai cooking by some of the country’s best chefs, showcase Thai culinary creativity through cooking classes, and present Thai flavors to audiences around the globe. Thai Chefs to the World also aims to improve the capabilities to Thai professionals in the culinary field, putting them on par with other international chefs, promote Thai chefs working overseas, and increase the number of authentic Thai restaurants abroad.

Rapeepan Luangaramrut, a celebrity and authority on authentic Thai cuisine, is managing the Thai Chefs to the World project and leading the delegation to California, Mrs. Rapeepan and the five competition winners will conduct Thai cooking classes at Thailand Plaza, introduce Thai food and beer during demonstrations and special meals the chefs prepare and serve at the Four Seasons Hotel, Beverly Wilshire, and meet with the news media during their visit.

The chefs coming to Los Angeles were chosen from hundreds of applicants. After being narrowed to a field of 150 candidates, the competitors received intensive training from culinary experts and participated in workshops. This group was winnowed down to 30 chefs, who took part in a cooking contest during which they prepared a variety of food, including main dishes, light meals, and desserts.
