Western Digital Corporation, one of the largest global hard-disk drive maker, sets sights on expanding its business in Thailand with an investment worth US$200 million or about Bt6 billion.
Industry Minister Prasert Boonchaisuk said after a discussion with Timothy Martin Leyden, chief executive officer of the California-based company, that WDC is committed to expanding the Thai operations despite huge damage from 2011 flood.
Leyden was quoted as saying that the operations in the next few years will be expanded through the introduction of new robots and machinery, to cope with the likelihood that new electronics products would be of smaller size in the future, The production would thus be required to be more precise.
Leyden is here in Bangkok to thank the Thai government for its supports in the aftermath of the flood.
